چکیده

Cover Illustration: The cover pictures an Eocene Atlantogean landscape showing vertebrate groups shared only by South America and northern Africa during the Tertiary. The basis is a palaeoprovince proposed by Ezcurra and Agnolin (this issue) that included South America, continental Africa, Europe, Antarctica and Australia. The fi rst plane of the fi gure shows a phororhacoid bird (cf. Lavocatavis africana) preying upon a caviomorph rodent (cf. Gaudeamus lavocati) and, close to the shore of a slow freshwater river, a polypterid polypteriform (left), a cichlid perciform (center) and lepidosireniform dipnoan (right). New Zealand phylogeography: evolution on a small continent.

New Zealand has long been a conundrum to biogeographers, possessing as it does geophysical and biotic features characteristic of both an island and a continent. This schism is reflected in provocative debate among dispersalist, vicariance biogeographic and panbiogeographic schools. A strong history in biogeography has spawned many hypotheses, which have begun to be addressed by a flood of molec...

The influence of Atlantic-Eurasian teleconnection patterns on temperature regimes in South Caspian Sea coastal areas: a study of Golestan Province, North Iran

The main objective of this study was to reveal the impact of nine climate indices on temperature changes and climate oscillations in Golestan Province along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. Climate indices data from across the Atlantic-Eurasian sector were collected from the NCEP/NCAR, the Climate Prediction Centre (CPC) and the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) over a period of 40 years (1971...

بررسی الگوهای گردش جوی روزهای همراه با بارش برف سنگین در غرب ایران

Heavy snowfall in the cold period will cause a lot of damages and troubles for society such as collapse of building installations, and confusions in road network and fuel distributions.  Freezing event will also make worse the intensity of damages. Therefore, identifying the mechanisms of Atmospheric Circulation Pattern (ACP) which form the heavy snowfall and freezing events will certainly...

بررسی اثر تغییر اقلیم بر روند نمایه های حدی بارش ایران زمین

Global changes in extremes of the climatic variables that have been observed in recent decades can only be accounted anthropogenic, as well as natural changes. Factors are considered, and under enhanced greenhouse gas forcing the frequency of some of these extreme events is likely to change (IPCC, 2007 Alexander et al., 2007). Folland et al. (2001) showed that in some regions both temperature a...
